The Son of Neptune will be the second book in The Heroes of Olympus series written by Rick Riordan. The book's title was sneakily revealed in the last couple of pages in various editions (NA and UK hardbacks, e-book) of The Lost Hero, which was released on 12th October 2010. On 29th April 2011, Rick Riordan revealed on his Twitter page that The Heroes of Olympus: The Son of Neptune will be released on 4th October 2011. He also said that it was being released a week earlier than scheduled, making the intended release date 11th October. On 26th May 2011, Rick Riordan posted on his blog that he had revealed the North American cover art the previous night at his Lincoln Centre event with fellow author James Patterson. He also spread the news on Twitter and Facebook.
